The following are companies which offer a free web site. For educational or personal web sites, they are great. Those marked with an asterisk do have an upgrade path and could be used for a business web site. Alot of these hosting companies are trying to get away from the free web sites, so you may need to hunt around for the free offer page.

The catch ? Sometimes they are very limited on disk space, page size or display pop-ups and banner ads on your web site. Domain registration can cost more than normal, or there are domain pointing/parking fees.(You don't have your own IP address, your domain is forwarded to a common IP address and then they redirect it to your web site.)
